A fascinating book I have always heard people make similarities between the fall of Rome and the downward spiral of the United States It was interesting to read some history of Rome and read about those causes and frighteningly eye opening to discover those similarities in the text Those who do not read history are doomed to repeat it Let us hope that someone in Washington DC reads Roman history and reads it soon

The book feels a little dated but the content is solid and well organized You can't help but pick up a lot of the contextual details of everyday life in Rome

This book was pretty all right It's actually 3 12 stars but when one has to make a choice between three or four I am going to err on the conservative side It gave me a brief history of the Roman culture and covered all of the basic points pretty well Maybe it's just nonfiction in general that underwhelms me but overall a pretty decent read

  6. Ian Ian says:
