There's a fine line between the fun bickering characteristic of a frenemies and two people being simply annoying Sadly this one fell right into the latterI guess The Truth About Cowboys is that they can be hella frustratingAlthough not everything was bad somehow I feel like this could have been of a me problem To be completely honest I absolutely loved the first uarter of the story The female lead was hilarious and I could relate to her on so many levels However I feel like I never got to really understand her under all that big sense of humour At the same time the male lead the cowboy was a tough cookie to crack for different reasons But hey I was here to discover what's the truth about cowboys after all And while I'm usually up to the task in this case I was simply frustrated with him his actions and his closed off cowboy persona Also his attraction seemed to appear out of thin airI don't know I guess something was missing for me to think of this one as a hit rather than a missearc via edelweiss in exchange for an honest review

One hot headed cowboy former pro baseball player and freshly scorned lover meets no filter balls to the walls divorce attorney turned newly book author and freshly scorned lover in the countryside of Texas I think it's safe to say that sparks fly in The Truth About CowboysI'm not one who loves a constant pushpull romance but there are exceptions I find that I tend to really enjoy Jason and Jessica are one of those exceptions It has a lot to do with the fact that I just really liked their characters and that pushpull they were constantly battling brought a lot of heat as a couple This had a great background setting on a farm in the Texas countryside with a feisty grandma uite a few sexy cowboys and a naked cat This was a fun and entertaining read that I highly recommend

35 Granny Takes Charge Stars 12 Spoiler FreeOh My What a Cover He is the perfect ad for Save a Horse Ride a Cowboy Sorry I just had to get that off my chest Now the book Lisa Renee Jones has created a female divorce lawyer who is successful and smart She is respected and also has a personal life looking to be setUntil she finds her fiance' and his secretary going at it in bed The moon must have been Mercury in Retrograde because the next thing she does is call out the biggest client she has as an asshat pretty much destroying her high powered career in Dallas Not one to sit around and weep she decides to take all she knows about divorce and write a book Oh and she somehow connects with a sweet grandmother type woman who rents her a cottage away from DallasWhat the Granny planned was for this woman to wake up her sweet grandson This man gave up his Baseball career when his parents died He needed to come back and save the ranch the way the parents had wanted He also had been burned by his fiance' when she decided ranch life wasn't for her So Granny's grandson has a chip on his shoulder about women and does not want her helpThese two meet not in the best ways and the games beginIf Granny has her way love will be in the air A gifted copy was provided by authorpublisher via NetGalley for an honest reviewFor Reviews Free E books and Giveaways

25 stars I received an ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest reviewThe truth about cowboys – or at least this particular cowboy – is that they’re hot and cold assholes who despise city girls If I ever hear or see the term “city girl” ever again I’ll rip my hair out Listen I’m pretty patient and easygoing when it comes to flawed protagonists especially in romance novels but I cannot stand the hero in this book Jason is a self proclaimed asshole who constantly judges Jessica simply because she’s from the city and he’s been burned by a city girl before He continues to judge her and makes swift assumptions about her actions even after significant relationship development I hate how Jessica has to constantly prove herself when she hasn’t done anything wrong What is this?? I fail to understand how Jessica fell in love with Jason Every time she’s with a man she has to explain herself to Jason to let him know that she’s not on a date with one of his ranch men Because obviously who she dates or does not date is up to this asshole cowboy Jessica does stand up to Jason but she also easily lets go of things and constantly makes excuses for his behaviour No thank you The rest of this review will have spoilers if you can even call them spoilers I'm rage writing at this pointHere’s the thing with Jason – his ex was a city girl who cheated on him with the men who work on his ranch Understandably his ex gets vilified because she’s a shitty person But what about the men who willingly slept with their boss’s fiancée???? They’re not even mentioned Hello?? It’s not like she forced them to have sex with her Why is she the only one being vilified? Are those men still working for Jason? If so why is he still protective over them? And how dare he tell Jessica not to date his men?? Try telling your men not to fuck your woman not that Jessica is even his woman UGH THIS FUCKERY My brain hurtsYou know what’s the sad thing? This book started off SO DAMN WELL Clumsy and hilarious lawyer heroine and cranky ex baseball player turned cowboy? Sounds delicious right? The meet cute is one of the best things EVER I was enthralled with the set up and the dynamic between Jason and Jessica I even gave Jason some free passes in the beginning because obviously it will take some time for him to fully trust Jessica But oh My God One minute Jason orders Jessica to leave and the next minute he tells her she can stay Rinse and repeat I wanted to slap the cowboy hat off this dude Almost 80% into the story after significant relationship and character development Jason regresses and continues to compare Jessica to his ex when she has done NOTHING to deserve this disgusting comparison Well over 90% into the story he still bitches over the books she’s writing All of this after he spent so much time with Jessica and got to know her All of this after his grandma and his best friend talked sense into him BOY BYE He didn't grovel enoughAside from the ASSHOLE COWBOY the other problem I had with this book is the writing I really don’t like criticizing an author’s writing style but Jones’s writing is weak awkward repetitive and filled with unnecessary details She’s a really good storyteller – there are some really memorable scenes in this book even if the hero is a jerk The pacing is also pretty good which seems to be an issue in other recent romances I’ve read But her prose is wordy with too many run on sentences I was forced to reread many paragraphs twice or to really understand what the author is trying to convey I can’t deal with that It makes my brain and eyes hurt There are also a lot of inconsistencies story wise 1 was Jessica’s ex a fiancé or a boyfriend? 2 Roarke’s grandma is mentioned in both present and past tenses is she alive or dead? and 3 how in the fuck did Jessica’s ex steal her money?????? I am hoping this book is edited further before final publication because it is in desperate need of a good editorPS At least the cover is droolworthy even if the hero isn't

The Truth About Cowboys is a fun sweet finding that perfect someone who might be that Ahole that owns the bungalow your living inJessica is a renown Dallas divorce attorney that finds her fiancée in bed with his secretary Running away seems like the right thing to do so she gets on the internet and finds a bungalow available from this really sweet older lady named Martha When she arrives she discovers that Martha doesn’t technically own the bungalow but her hot as all heck grandson Jason doesJason is an ex pro baseball player who gave up his career after his parents die in a tragic accident leaving him to care for the farm and his grandmother Martha Martha doesn’t really need caring after but she definitely has matchmaker plans on her mind Jessica instantly falls in love with Martha but Jason pretty much drives her mad with anger and lust both There is an attraction between them they just can’t deny too bad past scars repeatedly get in the wayI must admit; Jessica was way tolerant of Jason’s antics then I ever would have been I didn’t understand why she was so set on staying on a flooded out ranch when someone was downright hostile towards her It just goes to prove a grumpy moody cowboy sweet and wow what a baker grandma and cynical divorce attorney can find happiness even with all that muddied waterI received this ARC copy of The Truth About Cowboys from Entangled Publishing LLC Amara This is my honest and voluntary review The Truth About Cowboys is set for publication August 27 2019My Rating 4 starsWritten by Lisa Renee JonesSeries Texas Heat Book 1Mass Market Paperback 352 pagesPublisher Entangled Amara Publication Date August 27 2019ISBN 10 1640637605ISBN 13 978 1640637603Genre Western Sports Romance Noble

My rating 35 StarsHoping to regroup and lick her wounds after a miserable discovery about her ex Jessica a successful divorce attorney leased a cabin in the woods for solitude and to work on her how to book on divorces A confirmed city girl she wasn’t prepared for the torrential rains muddy roads or lack of civilization that dark night When the gruff cowboy stopped to assist he wasn’t the most welcome sight but he was all she had now that her car had broken down tooJason wasn’t buying the pretty woman’s story about renting a cabin was she a suatter? a scammer? After all the cabin she THINKS she is renting is his and he certainly hadn’t rented it out until she mentioned a lovely older woman named MarthaTHE TRUTH ABOUT COWBOYS by Lisa Renee Jones starts out as a delightfully funny romance complete with the broken hearted woman out of her element the damaged cowboy with his own painful past and enough uirky events and dialogue that this seemed like a slam dunk fun readThe bickering between Jessica and Jason got just a little too nasty a little too repetitive and really got to be a little too annoying Martha is priceless sweet charming and clearly she had her grandson wrapped around her little finger but in true “failure to communicate” fashion even Martha and Jason made some of their issues worseThe “turnaround” in the hate love your looks hate took too long for me BUT that said I did need to know how things resolved and Lisa Renee Jones did put a wrap on this one that seemed like a win win for all three main characters Not tons of depth but definitely a lot of turmoil all around but thankfully nothing that a few cookies a little steamy passion and a little growing up couldn’t fixI received a complimentary ARC edition from Entangled Amara This is my honest and voluntary reviewSeries Texas Heat Book 1Publisher Entangled Amara August 27 2019Publication Date August 27 2019Genre Contemporary Western Romance Number of pages 352Available from | Barnes NobleFor Reviews Giveaways Fabulous Book News follow

This was a hard push and pull romance with a couple that often straddled the line between love and hate While Jessica is working on writing a divorce guide her drunk friends talk her into writing a romance Soon she’s doing both and each books shadows her emotions towards the jerky cowboy that is stealing her heart From the highs to lows her writing is a reflection of what she is experiencing with Jason Unfortunately it looks like she might have to dig further into fiction in order for the romance to have a happy ever afterJason was burned by a city girl and with the death of his parents and the condition of the ranch his plate is full He gave up pitching in order to take care of business and ensure his grandmother’s future While he loves the ranch as well as his grandmother his passion is baseball until he meets Jessica Now he’s tormented with wanting it all and unable to make his complete dream come trueI enjoyed these characters Jessica was smart but a bit clumsy which led to some fun moments Jason was damaged and carried the world on his shoulders but was too afraid to make the changes that would bring him peace They were each wounded by life and afraid to yield to what was growing between themThere is a lot of back and forth between Jessica and Jason which created a wealth of angst With every decision Jessica made Jason seemed to take it the wrong way Even while they battled it out the chemistry between them sizzled keeping this couple in a constant state of want and desire that pushed against what their minds told themThis has a great pace to it never bogging down There is plenty of humor lots of steam and some amazing secondary characters I can’t wait to see of Overall this was a great read for anyone who enjoys the push and pull of which this couple excelsI voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book provided by NetGalley and Entangled Publishing All thoughts and opinions are my ownDual POVSafe view spoilerwhile the H suspects h of dating his cowboys she is not; h not virgin; H not a manwhore; no real owom drama hide spoiler

The Truth About Cowboys I had my life figured outEngaged to a successful manAbout to make partner at my firmBought a high rise apartment in downtown DallasAnd then poof it’s all gone Now like in some cheesy romantic comedy my car has broken down in the pouring rain on my way to “find myself” in The Middle of Nowhere Texas Cue hot guy coming to my rescue and changing my tire This is the part where we flirt and have a meet cute right That’s how it works in romance novels and I should know—after all I’m coming to Texas to write my own cowboy romance But nope This sexy cowboy lights into me about not being prepared for the country roads and how inappropriate my high heeled boots areLittle did I know Jason Jenks would tilt my world into a new dimension with his sinful smirk and his bad attitude Every time I turn around he’s there to reluctantly save the day And every time I think there may be something to that spark we ignite But there’s a reason the majority of country songs are about broken hearts The closer I get to this man the closer I get to learning the truth about cowboys
