Somewhere between humorous satire and critical comment on the way parts of the gay community are perceived by some both inside and outside of it , this story is primarily one about acceptance The message that people areimportant than perceptions and preconceived ideas comes through loud and clear The fact that it is delivered with a little humorous twist at the end may make itfun to accept, but does not diminish the underlying truth It is a difficult lesson to learn for police of Somewhere between humorous satire and critical comment on the way parts of the gay community are perceived by some both inside and outside of it , this story is primarily one about acceptance The message that people areimportant than perceptions and preconceived ideas comes through loud and clear The fact that it is delivered with a little humorous twist at the end may make itfun to accept, but does not diminish the underlying truth It is a difficult lesson to learn for police officer Jed, and it takes him a while to get it Some of his initial thoughts about Tristan angered me, but them, Jed does start out as a total bigot Gay himself, and deeply in the closet, his reaction to the out and proud Tristan is actually quite disturbing His attraction to Tristan, which he fights at first, is what saves him in the end.Tristan is trying really hard to be likeable to the point where he denies who he is, who he wants to be Something many of us have done to some degree fitting in and being accepted is important to all but the most determined social recluse, after all Tristan is anything but and when he starts to blossom under Jed s reformed attitude boy, do things get hot This is one of those books where I spent the first half yelling at the idiotic main character, almost ready to throw the book against a wall figuratively speaking Luckily, I persevered and the reward was not only seeing Jed redeem himself, but also getting to enjoy Tristan s revenge While this is not a deep character study because the book is too short for the details, it could well have been Jed s development is one that would lend itself for a novel length book So, if you like stories with a difference, a somewhat humorous voice, and don t mind a character who comes close to being a bastard for part of the book, you will probably like this one.NOTE This book was provided by Secret Cravings Publishing for the purpose of a review on QMO Books

This is a short story 42 pages Jed, a cop, is sent to the scene of a domestic disturbance Once there, he finds Tristan, an effeminate young man, who has been basically imprisoned clothes taken away, kept naked, not allowed to leave , beaten, and no doubt raped for three weeks by Kurt.Jed, a closeted gay, is instantly attracted by this beautiful young man, even though his feminine look disconcerts him So he decides to take Tristan home and keep him Since Jed does not want to come out of This is a short story 42 pages Jed, a cop, is sent to the scene of a domestic disturbance Once there, he finds Tristan, an effeminate young man, who has been basically imprisoned clothes taken away, kept naked, not allowed to leave , beaten, and no doubt raped for three weeks by Kurt.Jed, a closeted gay, is instantly attracted by this beautiful young man, even though his feminine look disconcerts him So he decides to take Tristan home and keep him Since Jed does not want to come out of the closet and he fears what his colleagues will think if they learn that he lives with this too feminine young man, he decides to train Tristan to act like a man, without success. When going to a bar with Jed, Tristan is beaten on the street by Kurt, Jed realized that he could have lost Tristan and he decides on the spot to tell everyone that Tristan is his boyfriend When I thought I might lose you I realized what a dumb shit I was The only important thing was you, not my ego There s nothing wrong with you exactly the way you are I m the one with the problem Said by Jed after the beating.Jed takes care of Tristan when he gets out of the hospital And when Tristan feels better, he decides to train Jed to get a littlein touch with your feminine side.I had no problem with the fact that Jed bossed Tristan after him being abused by Kurt Since Tristan agreed to go living with Jed, I don t see why some reviewers felt bad about it But I didn t really care for the main characters I don t know what did not work for me Maybe it could have been different if the story had been said from Tristan s point of view We could have known better how he felt to be brought home by that big cop and asked to actmacho. It is not badly written So I give it 3 stars

Jeb is a cop who is still in the closet Tristan is a young guy in big trouble with Kurt a big bully Tristan represents everything that Jeb resents He sees Tristan as a walking sterotype but he s drawn to him all the same He decides to take the boy home and maybe train him to bemanly There are some really cute scenes with that But there comes a point when Jeb has to come to terms with his own feelings By the end you re not sure who s training whom.

Cute, short and hot It should have been longer to make you really get into the characters but Jed comes through in the end

Reviewer MarissaSource PublisherMarissa s review was first posted at Romancing the Book s blog Training Tristan is a short read took me about an hour that had a bit of a moral issue I had to hurdle Here we have a cop who falls for the victim of an abuse crime, then decides to take said victim home and keep him But the keeping was mutual consent so okay The area I had a problem with was the training If Jed fell for Tristan the way he was, why does he feel the need to change him Bein Reviewer MarissaSource PublisherMarissa s review was first posted at Romancing the Book s blog Training Tristan is a short read took me about an hour that had a bit of a moral issue I had to hurdle Here we have a cop who falls for the victim of an abuse crime, then decides to take said victim home and keep him But the keeping was mutual consent so okay The area I had a problem with was the training If Jed fell for Tristan the way he was, why does he feel the need to change him Being a short story, we don t get as in depth into the characters as a full length novel would take us Jed is a closeted gay policeman who dates women to keep his straight cover He even has sex with them Even though he falls for Tristan, he s embarrassed by Tristan s girlie ways his use of toenail polish, lip gloss, and women s underwear, and his swishy walk While I can understand being embarrassed by someone you love, I have a hard time with the fact that Jed tried to change Tristan rather than try to accept his idiosyncrasies But then, that is part of the story Tristan is shy to the point of being withdrawn and it is easy to see why Jed was immediately attracted to him However, we don t see inside Tristan s mind in this story which almost makes Tristan a secondary character Other than what he relates to Jed, we don t know what he is feeling or what his thoughts on being taken in by his rescuer are That s something I would have liked to read Tristan s point of view.Training Tristan is one of those cute little stories that you can read while on the bus or in between full length novels It is well written especially considering it s in short story format and I found myself wanting to know what was going to happen next as I read each page

2.5 stars So yes, Jed is kind of a huge jerk for a good part of the story He takes Tristan in after he rescues him from being basically a prisoner of Kurt, a much bigger, scary guy Of course any cop who really did this would be in huge trouble for an ethics violation, but I digress Jed is really attracted to Tristan even as he shows his disdain for Tristan s feminine qualities Tristan is really attracted to Jed as well as evidenced by their little tryst in the men s room at the station He 2.5 stars So yes, Jed is kind of a huge jerk for a good part of the story He takes Tristan in after he rescues him from being basically a prisoner of Kurt, a much bigger, scary guy Of course any cop who really did this would be in huge trouble for an ethics violation, but I digress Jed is really attracted to Tristan even as he shows his disdain for Tristan s feminine qualities Tristan is really attracted to Jed as well as evidenced by their little tryst in the men s room at the station He tries to get Tristan to change and butch it up and his foolishness nearly costs him everything The part of the story I liked was Jed s realization that he indeed was a total JERK to be behaving this way towards Tristan instead of appreciating him for who he is This is a case where I think the story would have been much better if it had been at least twice the word count and allowed time for Jed and Tristan s relationship to build into somethingreal

I thought this would have been better then what it was, even though it s not a long book it seem like it would have been a bit different then what it was It seem like once you started reading it was done and over with It wasn t to bad, but it could have been better.
